HATE CRIME REPORTED IN CENTER CITY
According to published reports, last Thursday night at about 11 pm at 16th & Chancellor between Walnut and Locust, a group of young men and women (as many as 8-10 in some reports) attacked, beat, and robbed a gay couple returning home from dining out.  The attackers used anti-gay slurs while beating the couple.  Both men required hospitalization.

Hate has no place in Center City.  This crime is despicable.  We open our hearts to the victims of this horrible incident.  The right of men and women and children from all walks of life to walk securely on our sidewalks, free of both intolerance and violence, is paramount.

CCRA calls on the mayor, the district attorney, and the police to take all appropriate measures to prevent bias crimes of any kind and to spare no effort in bringing these assailants to justice.
