Dollar General to become Unleashed by Petco?

Naked Philly reports that in a few months the Dollar General at 23rd and South Streets will be replaced by an Unleashed by Petco. According to Unleashed's web site, "Unleashed by Petco hit the pet scene in 2009, with our first store in San Diego’s Hillcrest neighborhood. Our concept is simple – provide the same knowledge and know-how offered by Petco in a unique, smaller package." They currently have a store in The Granary, 1939 Callowhill St., across from Whole Foods. Any idea how this might impact our existing pet stores like Doggie Style?

Councilman Kenyatta Johnson's Community Appreciation Day is this Saturday, September 14, at 22nd and Point Breeze Avenue, from noon to 8pm.

24th and Grays Ferry
