Head's Up:  Attempted Robbery Reported
One of our members reported that her son was almost robbed. He was accosted by an African American armed man, in his 40's at 10 a.m. yesterday morning on the East side of Broad Street, at the intersection of Pine Street.

The man grabbed his arm and repeatedly said, "Give me the cash, give me the cash as he pulled a gun out of his waistband." When he said, "I don't have any," the man said "OK, we're going to Wawa at Broad and Walnut. Walk ahead of me." The son did so, and once at Wawa, began to open the door. The man, seeing an officer inside, tried to pull him away, saying, "You're coming with me." The son entered Wawa, and the man ran off.  He gave a description to the transit officer, who then ran down the street to give a description to the police who were down the block. Homeless men at Wawa were very helpful, pointing in the direction of the robber. They told the son that this was the second attempt at robbery that they had witnessed this morning.

Be careful! Especially during this difficult time.  Be aware of your surroundings at all times.  Be safe!

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

As we all struggle with the social isolation brought on by Covid-19, CCRA has struggled about how we can best help the neighborhood.  In reflecting upon our history of neighborhood advocacy and communication to and from residents, we realized that that role was our "highest and best use".  To that end, we have assembled a list of useful links to help you navigate the many questions brought on by the virus.  We also have compiled a list of neighborhood restaurants offering take out or delivery service.  Please patronize them as you can-our neighborhood will be a shell of itself if these vital friends and neighbors cannot survive this economic downturn.  Finally, as helpful articles from elsewhere become available, we will reshare them as appropriate.

Stay safe, but if symptomatic, please get tested.
Maggie Mund, CCRA President

Covid-19 Information

We know that there is a lot of confusing information circulating regarding Covid-19.  We at CCRA have created a list of useful links to help you find reliable health information, educational information, and other links to help keep you busy and sane while you remain at home. Click here for more information.
List of Neighborhood Restaurants open for Business

CCRA has compiled a list of restaurants in our neighborhood that are available for take out or delivery. It was inspired by the DiningataDistance list circulating on Next Door, but confined to our catchment area.  See here for the list.  Let Travis Oliver know at centercity@centercityresidents.org of others.
How to Help

There are several ways to help those in need.  Check out this recent Inquirer article. For information on where to donate, volunteer, or just connect with like minded people during this confusing time.

Parkway Development 23rd and Market

A successful web-meeting was held last Thursday night concerning the commercial building proposed at 23rd and Market. Seventy-Seven participants were on the call-that's certainly more than the public meeting would have attracted.

Public Comment was collected during the meeting AND WILL BE COLLECTED via email until March 30, 2020. Email public comment regarding this development to: centercity@centercityresidents.org with "Parkway Development" in the subject line.

Below are links to view or download the meeting.

Click here to view website where you'll find the full CDR presentation, the CCRA presentation and links to the video.

This presentation is related to the developer's appearance before the Civic Design Review board, date to be announced.
