CCRA House Tour - Sunday, Oct 22, 1-5 pm, Rittenhouse Square, rain or shine

This once-a-year event features a great mix of luxury high-rise condo units and townhouse residences in and around Rittenhouse Square and Fitler Square.  Participants receive a House Tour Guide Book with home descriptions and a route map. In addition, your ticket entitles you to a day-of-tour 15% discount on food for dinner (reservations suggested) at participating restaurants, so far including:  Audrey Claire, Twenty Manning Grill, and La Fontana Della Citta.

Tickets are available $35 for advance sales, and $40 if purchased on the day of the tour.  Those under 40 may purchase tickets at a discounted Young Friends rate of $25. For group of 10 or more, contact CCRA.  Tickets are available online through Eventbrite.  They can also be purchased by calling the CCRA offices at (215) 546-6719, or by sending a check to CCRA's offices at 1608 Walnut Street, 12th Floor, Philadelphia, PA, 19103.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the event or purchasing an advertisement in the House Tour Guide Book is invited to contact CCRA's offices.

Volunteers Needed for CCRA's 59th Annual House Tour, Sunday 10/22, 1-5PM
 
CCRA is seeking Hosts/Hostnesses to volunteer to help at this year's House Tour.  Hosts/Hostesses are stationed in beautiful homes and condos from 1:00PM until 3:00PM or from 3:00PM until 5:00PM.  Duties include greeting tour goers, protecting household items, and encouraging a safe flow of foot traffic.  As thanks for your gift of time, you will receive a free ticket to use either before or after your volunteer assignment to tour other homes. If you wish to volunteer, email us at centercity@centercityresidents.org.

Straight Talk on Crooked Lines: the Implications of Gerrymandering on our Democratic Process, Tonight, 9/28, 5:15pm, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP
Speakers will include Michael Li of the Brennan Center for Justice, Deuel Ross of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund Carole Kuniholm of Fair Districts PA. The event is hosted and moderated by Ben Geffen of the Public Interest Law Center and will feature a short video about their work, followed by a networking reception. CLE credit is available. Space is limited; reservations are available here.

Join the Center City Residents' Association (CCRA) for a District Attorney candidates' debate on Tuesday, Oct. 24th at 7pm at Temple Beth Zion (300 S. 18th St.).  Democratic nominee Larry Krasner and Republican nominee Beth Grossman will appear on stage and take questions from moderator Chris Brennan of the Philadelphia Inquirer. 
 
Those who wish to attend should get their tickets today.  The event is free and open to the general public. 
 
With this year's general election just a few weeks away, come to CCRA's debate.  Learn about the candidates and hear their visions for the District Attorney's office so you can make an informed decision on November 7th!

Conversation with State Rep Brian Sims, Thurs, Oct 5, 6pm, Baril Restaurant, 267 S. 19th Street

Some of the issues he will address are the state budget - especially how it will affect Philly school funding, fracking/severance taxes, and the economic impact of Philly tax $ vs. the rest of the state's.  State Rep Sims will then be open to answering questions from attendees.

Schuylkill River Trail Update
Over the last few years, many residents have complained about freight trains that idle for protracted periods of time next to the Schuylkill River Trail.  Read about what CCRA has been doing to fight for our residents.
