The Good Stuff Fast.... The difficulty with this newsletter is that we have so much good stuff to tell you about that it is hard to giving everything the space and prominence that it deserves.  And about half of you are reading this on a phone.  Two special things this week: a public forum with L&I Commissioner David Perri and answers to reader question from Managing Director Mike DeBerardinis.  But there's lots more.

Public Forum Tonight: Commissioner David Perri of Licensing & Inspections, Thurs, 10/27, 7PM, Tenth Presby., 17 & Spruce St
In past CCRA forums with city leaders, people have had a lot to say about L&I. Recognizing your interest, CCRA is hosting a forum with L&I Comm. Perri, where you can ask questions, get answers, make suggestions and talk about concerns, whether its construction safety, building conditions, restaurant sanitation, communications or broken sidewalks.

  Thank you to CCRA ... the Kenney Admin. is launching a multi-dept. task force to improve enforcement  ... updates in the months ahead.  I hope that once ... implemented, [these] issues ... will no longer be major concerns .... Trash ... should not be set out before 5 p.m., Oct. 1-Mar. 31, or 7 p.m., Apr. 1-Sept. 30 the night before ....  The Streets Department SWEEP Unit  ...  enforces ... [and] meets with concerned residents ... to address problem[s] ... and ... hold violators accountable. ... [C]ontact SWEEP at 215-685-4275. ... [I]n most of Center City, Streets provides nightly mechanical street sweeping and [empties] Big Belly [trashcans]. Streets works closely with community organizations [like CCRA] to coordinate cleaning  ... Streets has several programs to help ..., including SWEEP, the Citywide Cleaning Unit, and the Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee ....

Solarize Center City Update

Society Hill Dance Academy

Since 2002, Society Hill Dance Academy has been Philadelphia's favorite dance studio. We offer lessons to individuals, couples or groups in all levels of Smooth and Latin dances including but not limited to: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Rumba, Bolero, Salsa, Mambo, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Cha Cha, Merengue and Bachata.  Our monthly theme parties, weekly group classes, holiday parties and nights out in the city will introduce you to a whole new social atmosphere and deliver the countless benefits that ballroom dancing has to offer.  Regardless of your skill level and objective, our talented, friendly and accommodating dance instructors can make you feel comfortable, confident and accomplished on the dance floor.

Happy Hour with your Philadelphia Council-at-Large members, Dec. 14, 2016 at 6 PM, at Victor's Bar, 2101 Chestnut St.
CCRA has many events with officials representing districts in our footprint. We're honored to provide this event to meet our Council-at-Large members. Each will speak for a couple minutes about their 2017 focus and then mingle. This is a face-to-face time for you with city leaders. All seven at-Large members are invited. First round is on CCRA for CCRA members and their guests.  Victor's Bar will graciously provide the food and Happy Hour prices for drinks.

Art Exhibition, TONITE, 10/27, 5-7pm, C.R.Ettinger Studio, 2215 South Street

The C.R. Ettinger Studio Gallery invites you to the opening of a new exhibition of etchings by artist José Ortiz-Pagán, entitled CÉNIT (Addendum).  Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Ortiz-Pagán received degrees from the University of Puerto Rico and the Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Rome. His images are about political events in the last 40 years and how industrial systems have displaced people. He was awarded the Carlos Marichal award on Printmaking. This event is free and open to the public.
