Town Hall Meeting Scheduled for CCRA Police Service Area
CCRA Police District Advisory Council (PDAC) representative learned
of the attempted rape on Saturday morning at Love Park before the media
reported on it. There's now a $5,000 reward
from the Fraternal Order of Police for a tip that leads to the arrest
of a man who police say attacked a woman in LOVE Park early Saturday
morning. Click here for a recent article about the attack featuring a video of the suspected assailant.
At the PDAC meeting, CCRA's rep also learned of a robbery by knifepoint at 3pm in
Love Park, the same Saturday, by an African American male in his
mid-20s. Due to the two incidents, Love Park, which had previously been
patrolled from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, is now being patrolled
10am to 10pm, 7 days per week.
One more piece of information from
the PDAC meeting: On Saturday, 1/11/20, Police took a man into custody
immediately following the fatal stabbing of another man experiencing
homelessness at 17th and Sansom. However, Police are still investigating
the fatal November stabbing in Rittenhouse Square, while amped-up
patrols of the Square and the patrol car remain.
CCRA
has been endeavoring to learn more about the attack at Love Park and
the police plans to safeguard our neighborhood after 3 violent crimes in
2 months. Let's hold them accountable! Plan to attend the
Police-Sponsored Town Hall meeting for Police Service Area (PSA) #1
(that's us!) on February 6, 2020, at 7 pm at Trinity Memorial Church,
22nd and Spruce.
