Light Up the Night and SOSNA Networking Happy Hour

Join us on Tuesday, August 2nd for National Night Out at Julian Abele Park! Meet our 17th District police officers and reps from our District Attorney's office, tour the fire truck, and enjoy live music from the Little Big Sister Band and Kamara. We'll be joined by the Friends of Chester Arthur, Stanton Community Partners and the Poi Dog Food Truck. Let us know you're coming!
Do you want to meet your neighbors and make some new professional connections? On Tuesday, August 9th join us at Tria Fitler Square for our first Neighborhood Networking Happy Hour! Tria has generously offered to donate a portion of happy hour sales to Carpenter Green! Don't forget to bring your business cards.

Help to prepare our schools with everything they'll need for the school year! We're now collecting first aid supplies for our local public schools, please consider donating band aids, alcohol swabs, hand sanitizer, gauze, ice packs, combs, etc. (for the complete list, click here). Drop off donations at the Igloo, Rita's, the Quick Fixx or the SOSNA office. You can even order items through amazon and have them delivered to SOSNA (1901 Christian Street). Check out Santon's Wishlist and Arthur's Wishlist

The SOSNA Safety Committee is thrilled to announce the sixth annual Light Up the Night event on Tuesday, August 2nd. This year we are celebrating National Night Out at Julian Abele Park (22nd & Carpenter/Montrose) from 6:00-8:00pm on the 2nd.
 
This family-friendly, community event is being held to raise awareness about safety and crime prevention in the neighborhood, to get to know your neighbors, and to strengthen police-community partnerships. We will have fun, family-friendly activities including live music from Kamara, a neighbor meet and greet, Poi Dog Philly food truck. At the event, we'll be joined by various community organizations including the South of South Town Watch, the Friends of Chester Arthur, Stanton Community Partners as well as the Philadelphia Police Department and the Philadelphia Fire Department!!

We're in search of audio/visual professionals and/or those with the skills to help us film and edit brief (60-90 second) videos. One day. One city. Tons of free dance workshops! Philadelphia Dance Day is back and bigger than ever! In celebration of the seventh-annual nonprofit festival, several local dance companies have teamed up to offer a Saturday packed with FREE workshops, live performances and a $5 evening dance party. The goal: to unite the community in celebrating dance as a powerful platform for creative expression and physical activity.

Tindley Temple United Methodist Church is having a Community Day on Saturday, August 27, 2016! You're invited to join the festivities from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm!  Tindley Temple UMC is located at 750 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146. Community Day is a free event for the community that includes food, games/activities, a moon bounce, face painting, DJ/music, health screenings, information tables and giveaways.  Free book bags filled with school supplies will also be distributed.  The event will take place in the parking lot of the church with some activities placed in the street (i.e., moon bounce!).
