News and Updates

Dear Neighbors:

I hope you are all staying safe and taking care of yourself as the Covid-19 crisis continues. Here at CCRA we are doing our best to keep you connected with the latest developments at the City and State related to the virus. At the CCRA board meeting (zoomed April 14, 2020), the Board authorized this letter requesting that Mayor Kenney authorize the opening of the outer drives of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for exercise. CCRA recruited Logan Square Neighborhood Association, Fitler Square Improvement Association and South of South Neighborhood Association to write similar letters. Just today, we learned the City would not be honoring this request. Needless to say, this is very disappointing. Although the recent cold, rainy weather has not made outdoor exercise all that inviting, we all now know 70 degrees and sunshine are coming. I do not understand how such a simple ask, done routinely for special events, could be denied. We are endeavoring to learn more.

Last Chance to Enter the Facebook Photo Contest

A great way to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day during these tough times is to celebrate spring.

Our first contest was a huge success, so we decided to have it again. This time it's: Nature! We want to see the most beautiful pictures of the trees, plantings, and more that makes our neighborhood beautiful. Are your doing your part to make Center City West beautiful? We want to see it. This contest will run from April 20 - April 26.

The rules are simple. To enter, post your pictures in the comment section of our Philly Nature Photo Contest Facebook post.  The picture with the most likes will win. Feel free to share this with friends and family. The contest is open to all.

Reminder: while taking your photos, remember to practice social distancing and wear your mask in public. Good luck!

Quarantine Got You Down?

From the Dept of Environmental and Occupational Health at Drexel University

In these difficult times, when everyone's lives are being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, you can do something important for your family, friends, neighbors and community.  Please take time to participate in our survey of the impacts of COVID-19.  We need reliable information on the impact on work and health (physical and mental health) to effectively assess the needs of communities and support them better.  We all have shown great solidarity toward one another and we hope that this extends to taking part in this study. Thank you for helping us help you! Do not hesitate to share this survey link with your friends, family and colleagues.  Your responses will be kept confidential and anonymous.
