Friends & Neighbors,
The September Zoning Committee Meeting will be held Wednesday, September 16th at 7pm at the SOSNA office. For a list of projects on the agenda, please click here
Stick around this weekend because there's lots to do in the neighborhood! On Saturday, check out some awesome backyard gardens and join the South Philly Food Co-op for their annual Garden Tour, ending at Julian Abele Park! Learn more about why trees are so important to our urban landscape during the Southwest Center City Tree Tenders' Neighborhood Tree Stroll. Bring the kiddos and stop by the Grandparent's Day Celebration at the Triangles Plaza. And get your groove on at the Philadelphia United Jazz Fest on South Street between Broad and 16th. On Sunday, head back to the Triangles Plaza and lend a hand at our monthly clean up at 10am, we could always use help making sure the Triangle is tidy and clean! Finally, meet us back at the Triangles for the second to last of the Summer Music Series Concerts (kids' edition) at 5pm.
More coming soon on the candidates running for SOSNA's Board of Directors! Make sure you attend our Elections Meeting on Tuesday, October 13th at Shiloh Baptist Church, and register to vote!

The next SOSNA Zoning Committee meeting will take place at the SOSNA office, 1901 Christian Street, at 7PM on September 16, 2015.
The SOSNA Zoning Committee always meets the third Wednesday of every month starting at 7 PM.

Attention SOSNA members! Come out and vote to elect up to 5 new members of the SOSNA Board of Directors! Nominations were accepted at the September 9, 2015 General Membership Meeting. Details about the elections procedure and serving on the Board are below. The Elections will take place Tuesday, October 13th at Shiloh Baptist Church (2040 Christian St)! Polls will be open from 6:30pm-8:30PM, and the candidates will give their brief speeches at 7:30PM.
Join us for the "good the bad and the ugly" tour of Southwest Center City's trees. Learn about the community  work - planning, planting and tending that have reduced the bad and the ugly and created more of the good! The tour will discuss some of the stresses on the local tree canopy in a Center City neighborhood that has experienced a tremendous amount of construction over the years and the efforts to preserve mature trees and to re-grow what has been lost.
Come over with a blanket or table and display & sell your gently used items (and new ones, too). Participants agree that monies raised will be used to benefit Julian Abele Park and our future plans/projects. Good news, we've got a food vendor, too. He's from "Little Italy" food truck at 6th and Chestnut. He's not bringing his truck but he's setting up a table and he'll be providing breakfast and lunch food items from 10 AM to 2 PM.
On Sunday, September 13th we'll have a special Kid's Edition of the Triangles Summer Music Series! Bring the kids from 5-7pm for a performace by Cris & Lou and the Pitruco's Pizza truck!
The summer is coming to a close, that means it's time for back to school! Help us collect the items our schools really need this year- pencils and paper! We're challenging the neighborhood to help us collect 20,000 pencils and 2,000 reams of paper for Stanton and Chester Arthur Elementary Schools!
On Sunday, September 20th we'll have a special Kid's Edition of the Triangles Summer Music Series! Bring the kids from 5-7pm for a performace by Lara & Joe Show and the Dos Hermanos Taco truck!
Run through our beautiful neighborhood in one of Philly's most unique races! This year's SWCC 5K has new and improved features including mile markers, a Spooky Sprint kids run, and a fan zone with refreshments.  Register today!
What better way to farewell to the fading days of summer than a Sunday morning walk/run through a beautiful, part of our city?  Join Penn’s 5K for IOA and Memory Walk on Sunday, September 20th, at 8am at Shoemaker Green!
