SOSNA Accepting Nominations for Board of Directors TOMORROW

Friends & Neighbors, 
Do you volunteer to make our community a better place to live? Would you like to have an even greater impact? Nominate yourself, or a friend, for the SOSNA Board of Directors! SOSNA will be accepting nominations tomorrow night (Sept 9) at the September General Meeting. You can nominate yourself or a friend (or have a friend nominate you), but to make a nomination YOU MUST ATTEND THE MEETING tomorrow evening. The nominee is not required to be present, but his/her presence is preferred. Nominations are not accepted by phone, email, or in person at the SOSNA office prior to the meeting.
After nominations each candidate will be asked to submit responses to a series of questions that will be posted on the SOSNA website in advance of the election. On election night, each candidate will also be asked to give a brief speech to the SOSNA membership. Lastly, in order to vote you must be a registered member, to register click here.
Voting will take place at the October General Meeting at Shiloh Baptist Church (2040 Christian), on Tuesday October 13th at 6:30PM. For more information on being a member of the SOSNA Board of Directors, click here!

Your favorite homegrown festival on the best end of the hippest street in town is rockin' on October 3, 2015!  Historical proceeds return back into the Graduate Hospital neighborhood supporting greening initiatives, school support groups and programs, grass roots groups trying to get off the ground. BLOKTOBERFEST is put on by the neighbors in Southwest Center City for all our neighbors in Philadelphia and beyond. Rain or Shine!

The Triangles Plaza just got better! The Grays Ferry Triangles Committee has just installed a Little Free Library in the Plaza! While you're there feel free to borrow a book (there are kids' book and grown-up books) to read as you lounge by the fountain. Remember the motto- "take a book, leave a book", if you take a book home, leave another book in the library for someone else to enjoy!

Join Baby Wordplay for a celebration of National Grandparent's Day! From 10am-2pm on September 12th there will be lots of activities for little one at the Triangles Plaza- including a drum circle and storyplay, a ribbon cutting for SOSNA's new Little Free Library, Library card sign up, and MORE!

Join us for the "good the bad and the ugly" tour of Southwest Center City's trees. Learn about the community  work - planning, planting and tending that have reduced the bad and the ugly and created more of the good! The tour will discuss some of the stresses on the local tree canopy in a Center City neighborhood that has experienced a tremendous amount of construction over the years and the efforts to preserve mature trees and to re-grow what has been lost.

The summer is coming to a close, that means it's time for back to school! Help us collect the items our schools really need this year- pencils and paper! We're challenging the neighborhood to help us collect 20,000 pencils and 2,000 reams of paper for Stanton and Chester Arthur Elementary Schools!
