It's almost time!

Well, we are week out from our Casino Night fundraiser with Governor Edward G. Rendell and I sincerely hope you are planning to attend. Thanks to all who sent in your memories of the times when Governor Rendell was our mayor. He did a lot for the City, and I will be highlighting two special BIG IDEAS he had that really transformed our neighborhood. Here's a few hints:

I know the idea of a Casino Night may be daunting. I myself have never played craps or roulette. But I look forward to learning, as the friendly croupiers will be teaching as they go. And there's a silent auction, food from DiBruno Bros, Veda and El Rey, a martini bar, wine and soft drinks. All we need is YOU to make it a party!  Click or tap here to get your ticket today!

I know this may be repetitive, but just in case you've forgotten:

Fabulous Raffle prizes at Casino Night.
May 9,  Ethical Society,  Rittenhouse Square, 6-10pm

A Night at the Four Seasons at the Comcast Center with $200 gift certificate for Dinner at Jean George.

Talking Eagles with Governor Rendell and Ray Didinger. Lunch at XIX at the Bellevue. Date TBD

We also have many fabulous raffle prizes and auction items. Click or tap here  to see the growing list.

CCRA Annual Meeting, Wednesday, May 22, 7pm, Academy of Vocal Arts, 1920 Spruce St

Finally, one more CCRA event in May - our Annual Meeting with Rebecca Rhynhart! May 22, 7 PM at the Academy of Vocal Arts. Meet our current board and staff, vote for new Board and Executive Committee elections, hear what Rebecca Rhynhart thinks about being Controller after 18 months in office, and celebrate the beginning of summer with old and new friends.  Light refreshments and wine will be served afterwards.

Anyone interested in helping organize and publicize this event, please contact the office.  CCRA's all volunteer board is pretty taxed with "Casino Night."
Some Spring Things

It's spring, it's time to celebrate! In addition to our Casino Night, there are a number of other galas in the area.   These include:

Ladybug Release Party at Schuylkill River Park Community Garden, 25th & Spruce, Sat, May 11, 11am, Rain* or Shine
*Check email for last minute cancellation in the event of a thunderstorm.

Drinks and snacks will be served. Please bring a healthy snack or dessert to share. RSVP required to Katie Tremont by Mon, 5/6.

Event sponsored and food provided by
CCRA / SRPCG

This is a popular annual event to welcome and introduce children to the garden. There is typically a brief activity, ladybugs are released, and snacks are enjoyed by all. The following volunteer opportunities are available:
  • Provide healthy snacks and/or desserts
  • Help supervise activities
If you are interested in helping with either of these tasks or have any additional ideas or services you would like to contribute to the event, please contact Event Chair Katie Tremont at katie.tremont@gmail.com
There are also a number of volunteer opportunities in the neighborhood. They include:

Thank you! The book sale will be held Friday, May 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
