SOSNA Newsletter

Tonight! SOSNA Volunteer Holiday Party!

Friends & Neighbors,
Join us tonight at the Sidecar Bar for the SOSNA Volunteer Appreciation Holiday Party and the announcement of the SOSNA Volunteer of the year! We're so thankful for all of our volunteers and their passion for improving our community. We're also collecting new hats, gloves and scarves for our neighborhood schools tonight at the Holiday Party, as well as at the SOSNA office, the Igloo and The Quick Fixx until December 21st. Help us keep our kids warm and cozy this winter and donate!
After the holidays, don't trash your tree- recycle it! SOSNA is holding a tree-cycling event to support Carpenter Green and keep Christmas trees out of our landfills. We'll be collecting Christmas trees at Carpenter Green (17th and Montrose) the first two Saturdays in January. This year, you can sign up to have your tree picked up and chipped- just sign up in advance, put your tree curbside and we'll do the rest! Suggested donations of $5/tree for drop off and $20/tree for pick up will go toward completing Carpenter Green!

Start off 2015 sustainably! Don't throw your tree out with the trash, RECYCLE IT!
The Carpenter Green and Clean & Green Committees will be collecting and recycling Christmas trees on the first two Saturdays in January. Trees collected will be chipped and stored at 17th and Carpenter -the future site of Carpenter Green Park! Wood chips will be available for neighbors and used during the neighborhood tree planting in spring 2016. Drop off your tree on January 2nd or 9th, for a suggested donation of $5. If you don't want to put the tree in the car or drag it down the street, you can sign up to have your tree picked up on January 9th for a $20 donation! For more information and to sign up for tree pick up, go to http://southofsouth.org/treecycle.

The Leaf Collection and Recycling Program is one of several services provided by the Streets Department to honor the City's on-going commitment to recycling. This recycling program helps to reduce the amount of materials that reach the waste stream and saves landfill space. SOSNA's closest drop-off location is Broad and Christian Streets. All leaves must be in biodegradable brown bags. For all the details, click here.
