Our biz corridor clean up is back on Sunday, 8/8! We surveyed business owners to ask what helps bring people into their shops. The unanimous answer? CLEAN STREETS! Come out Sunday, 8/8 for a little sweeping (and maybe a little shopping) to help us support our biz corridors by keeping them clean! Meet at our office (1901 Wash Ave, entrance on 19th) by 8:50a to grab tools and supplies. Please bring gloves if you have them. Can't make it to the clean up? Please consider donating to SOSNA to help us cover the cost of supplies.

To prepare for the mural work for our Safe Pathways to Our Schools project, the crosswalk corners need to be cleaned of trash and as much debris as possible. WHEN: Saturday, 8/7 from 9-11a WHERE: Meet at 17th & Montrose TOOLS: Will be provided by Carpenter Green Park, bring gloves if you have them.

Vicinity Energy and ACV Enviro will be hosting a Battery Recycling Event during two of our upcoming Music In The Triangle performances. Start putting aside your used batteries to bring on Thursday, August 12 for recycling! We can accept lead acid, nickel cadmium, lithium ion, and alkaline batteries. Do you have some household items you're ready to bid farewell to this fall? Some clothing or furniture that could use a new home? As part of the first SOSNA Second Saturday, we are promoting a Neighborhood-wide Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, September 11 from 9AM-2PM, and everyone is invited to participate! All neighbors and local businesses are invited to join in, and for a $5-15 donation you can be listed on our official map with any items you'd like to advertise. If you don’t live in the neighborhood but still want to participate, we have options for you! We will also be providing space in our new community center at 1901B Washington Avenue (corner of 19th & League St) as well as other public locations in the neighborhood. If you need space to vend, simply select that option on the form.

The South of South Neighborhood Association (SOSNA) is a neighborhood civic association established to improve the quality of life and serve as a resource for residents and businesses by actively encouraging and promoting neighborhood activities and civic involvement in the area bounded by the south side of South Street to the north side of Washington Avenue and the west side of Broad Street to the Schuylkill River. SOSNA is committed to creating programs and initiatives that cultivate a diverse and inclusive neighborhood. We will continue to embrace the rich history of our neighborhood, build a Board that represents the community and aspire to create an environment that empowers its residents by providing access to resources, clean and green spaces, equitable development, safer streets, and community support, including those of all races, ages, gender identities, LGBTQAI+ identities, socioeconomic statuses, varying abilities, ethnicities, perspectives and experiences. We will achieve this mission through intentional listening, story sharing and displaying empathy while purposefully centering voices of historically excluded individuals and communities.
