Trash Talk, Talkin’ Trash

Parents (and children) of a certain age will recall the Sesame Street character Oscar the Grouch, who lived in a trash can and whose signature song was “I Love Trash."

That was all cute and lovable and adorable, but pardon us if we’re a bit grouchy ourselves about the subject of trash around here. We understand that more than a few urban ills seem intractable, nor has the pandemic helped, but… Picking up the trash in a timely fashion?  Pardon the pun, but that’s too heavy a lift?

To their credit, last week a number of fed-up residents brought bags of trash from their own neighborhoods to the Municipal Services Building in protest. And yes, there’s even an app for this called “Glitter," which pays residents to clean up their neighborhoods through corporate sponsorships.

These grass-roots efforts are admirable, but Bottom Line it’s the City’s responsibility here. This trash problem needs to go, along with the unfunny sobriquet “Filthadelphia."

So, people: COMPLAIN. Loudly, and Often.

New Merchant Partner Brings the Art of Framing
CCRA is both proud and delighted to introduce our newest Merchant Partner, Frameworks Studio at 21st & Walnut Sts. Frameworks Studio & Gallery is not just another framing house. How so? Well, for one, the framers are artists themselves, complete with Fine Arts degrees. For another, there is an active on-site gallery which offers seasonal exhibitions featuring the works of local artists. And finally, as a CCRA Merchant Partner, FrameWorks offers CCRA members 10% off on all framing. So do please stop by at 21st & Walnut and say hello to the newest member of the CCRA Merchant Partner family: FrameWorks!
