Are you planning on attending a 2- or 4-year college in 2022? Are you a high school or in your first three years of college?

SOSNA’s Community Impact Committee is offering a scholarship opportunity a student in their final year of Philadelphia public or charter high school or in the 1st three years of college, who resides in the neighborhood (south side of South Street to the north side of Washington Avenue and the west side of Broad Street to the Schuylkill River), has a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and plans to attend a 2-year or 4-year college in Fall 2022.

Completed applications must be received by Friday, July 2nd, 2021.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Live within the SOSNA neighborhood boundaries (South Street to Washington Ave; Broad to Schuylkill River)

  • Be in final year of Philadelphia public or charter high school or in the first three years of college

  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

  • Plan to attend an accredited 2- or 4-year college in the fall of 2022

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Completed SOSNA Scholarship application (see page 2)

  • Completed essay (must be at least 500 words) on one of the following topics:

    • How have you contributed to the Graduate Hospital/SWCC neighborhood?

    • How do you intend to contribute to the Graduate Hospital/SWCC neighborhood after graduation?

  • Copy of your high school transcript (or college transcript to date if already enrolled)


The South of South Neighborhood Association (SOSNA) is a neighborhood civic association established to improve the quality of life and serve as a resource for residents and businesses by actively encouraging and promoting neighborhood activities and civic involvement in the area bounded by the south side of South Street to the north side of Washington Avenue and the west side of Broad Street to the Schuylkill River.
