Fitler Square -- Over the last five-plus months, a volunteer steering group (with representatives from FSNA, CCRA, SOSNA, and Gray's Ferry), in conjunction with Councilmember Johnson's staff, developed a community engagement process for the name of Taney St.
A critical step of this community engagement process is participation in a virtual town hall by residents and immediate neighbors of Taney Street to discuss the legacy of Roger Taney and what values the community would want a street name to broadcast.
The 'Our City, Our Streets, Our Choice: Virtual town hall event will be held on Zoom at 7:30 pm on Monday, December 14th. A link to RSVP and a direct link to the Zoom event can be found at www.renametaney.com.
Whether you can attend the town hall or not, we encourage you and your neighbors to complete a community survey on the street name on the website: https://www.renametaney.com/community-engagement/ The survey takes less than 2 minutes to complete.
This town hall will be a place to work from and to work together. The event will be an initial step toward building an understanding of Taney's legacy and charting a path for Taney Street's future.
If you have any questions or comments regarding the town hall event, please contact info@renametaney.com.
