Each additional donation of $200 earns another entry into the raffle. The winner will be selected in January. COVID-19 Updates
Office Closure

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, CCRA is closed Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27. All emails and phone messages will be returned beginning Monday, Nov 30.

Trash Collection

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, no trash will be collected on Thursday, Nov. 26. Garbage collection will resume on Friday, Nov. 27.

Please be mindful when setting out your garbage and recyclables on the sidewalk.
 
We are grateful to our sidewalk cleaners who come every week to clean our sidewalks, but let's help them out when it comes to setting our garbage on the curb.

Do you have the time to take a couple of surveys?

Drexel University is inviting you to participate in a short survey on greenspace and health. Results will be used for a public health research study on greenspace utilization and health during the pandemic. Anyone who is ages 18 and older, lives in the Metropolitan Philadelphia region, and can access and complete the survey online, is eligible to participate. The survey is available here.

SEPTA is inviting you to participate in a short survey. COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted many aspects of our daily activities, including how we utilize public transportation. To help SEPTA better understand the changing needs and demands of its customers, they are inviting you to take part in a short online survey. This link is for the SEPTA COVID-19 Travel Survey: Fall 2020, through which the Authority hopes to glean information on customer sentiment, feedback on the various health and safety measures SEPTA has implemented throughout the system as well as trends and shifts in travel and overall mobility amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline for completing the survey is Tuesday, Dec. 1. 
Thanksgiving To-Go Dinners Available at the William Way LGBT Community Center

On Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, the William Way Center will be giving out Boxed Dinners to-go from 1 pm to 3 pm, or when the food runs out. The Center is located at 1315 Spruce St.
Esquire: Philly’s Kalaya Best New U.S. Restaurant in 2020

Yes, there is good restaurant news here in Philly in 2020. Esquire magazine has named Thai eatery Kalaya as the best new restaurant in the U.S. for the year 2020. Located on 9th St. above Christian, in Esquire’s words Kalaya “absolutely purrs with spirit” and offers Thai dishes “with such depth of soul and flavor that you’re left dreaming about them for days”.


Sigma Sound Lives!

In a time when one beloved institution after another is falling by the wayside, we can happily report that Sigma Sound Lives! The iconic N. 12th Street birthplace of the “Philly Sound” is now included in the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places, which precludes the building from being demolished. Fun Fact about Sigma: they had so many gold records on the walls that they ran out of room and hung some in the bathroom!


What Really Went On Inside the Convention Center

The whole world was watching as ballots were being tabulated at the Convention Center on Election Day and the days after. The boisterous scene outside has been well documented. But what about what was going inside the Convention Center? Not so boisterous. Methodical, precise, largely tamper-proof.

According to the owners, Bobby and Billy, neighborhood tap house, Cherry Street Tavern will close today, Thursday Nov. 19, for the remainder of the year. If you have a chance, stop by one last time this year.
