FIRST TRANCHE OF CONFIRMED POLLING PLACES

This election continues to be like no other, but one aspect of voting which will look slightly more normal in November is in-person voting, specifically polling place locations.

Unlike the Primary in June, Election Day in November will not be impacted by substantial polling location closures or relocations, as the Commissioners have committed to opening at least 800 polling places. That doesn’t necessarily mean every polling place will be back though, as many were located in places like senior housing facilities that now can’t be used as a result of the pandemic.

Election officials have been working all summer to confirm this year’s locations, and yesterday they released the first tranche of confirmed facilities, which you can view here.

Look up your voting division on the Commissioners’ Philadelphia Votes website, and then check the list to see where you’ll be voting. If you don’t see your voting division on there yet, it’s not time to panic yet. All locations will be finalized at least 20 days before Election Day.

POLLING LOCATIONS IN OUR AREA (30th Ward):
Marian Anderson Recreation Center (DIV 6)
Chester Arthur School (DIV 14 & 15)

 SOSNA BOARD ELECTIONS

The SOSNA Board of Directors is a working volunteer Board that establishes the policies and helps implement the programs and activities of the organization. The SOSNA board is an elected volunteer body, made up of 15 people from the neighborhood. Each board member serves a 3-year term and can only serve 2 consecutive terms, for a total of 6 years.

SOSNA’s Board of Directors strives to be representative of our population of neighbors. Our Board of Directors and volunteers shape our programs and initiatives as we work towards community safety that supports and heals, not disenfranchises and displaces. We continue to be committed to creating a diverse board that represents our neighborhood in terms of race/ethnic groups, professions, education levels, ages, abilities and genders. All nomination applications are very welcome.

SOSNA COMMUNITY SPACE - SURVEY

We're exploring turning our new SOSNA space into a cooperative workspace containing technology and resources to develop creative digital content. In doing so we hope to create a community hub for individuals to work remotely, facilitate learning pods, and share skills or solutions through developing creative digital content in order to develop rapport in person or virtually, share solutions through digital content, and ultimately establish a more cohesive community.

Learn more about the idea created by our Board Member, Brandon Washington here.

We need your input on this community space!
