you post that frustrated review or rant about delayed trash pickups,
please understand that in the middle of pandemic, through face-melting
heat and torrential downpours, sanitation workers have been on the
frontlines. Without adequate or enough PPE, our sanitation workers are
contracting COVID-19 in these unsafe conditions while we continue to
produce household waste.
A FEW TIPS:
Read more about the campaign to support sanitation workers here and follow frontline santiation worker, Terrill Haigler (@_yafavtrashman) on Instagram for updates
Write to your Councilperson and Mayor Kenney to ask for more PPE (and hazard pay) for our frontline sanitation workers
Expect delays until these issues are resolved and be prepared to hold your trash and recycling in for a few days
Reporting missed pick-ups
to 311 does not accelerate the process, it just bogs down the system
with the uptick in complaints that Streets is already aware of
your sanitation workers and please try to be patient through this
process - we know it's not an ideal situation for anybody but we get
through this together!
