Without adequate or enough PPE, our sanitation workers are contracting COVID-19 in these unsafe conditions while we continue to produce household waste. A FEW TIPS: Read more about the campaign to support sanitation workers here and follow frontline santiation worker, Terrill Haigler (@_yafavtrashman) on Instagram for updates Write to your Councilperson and Mayor Kenney to ask for more PPE (and hazard pay) for our frontline sanitation workers Write to Governor Wolf to ask him to include sanitation workers in his newest COVID-19 PA Hazard Pay Grant Contribute to this fundraiser to help pay for PPE for sanitation workers by buying one of these t-shirts. Try to reduce your own household waste We recommend curbside compost from Circle Compost or Bennett Compost (this helps get rid of the stinky food smell!)  Here are 6 easy ways to reduce your household waste via GreenCities Expect delays until these issues are resolved and be prepared to hold your trash and recycling in for a few days Reporting missed pick-ups to 311 does not accelerate the process, it just bogs down the system with the uptick in complaints that Streets is already aware of Thank your sanitation workers and please try to be patient through this process - we know it's not an ideal situation for anybody but we get through this together! Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 7 PM ET Moderated by President and CEO Matías Tarnopolsky, the event will feature a conversation with, and performance by, jazz pianist Vijay Iyer, as well as discussions with Sphinx Organization President and Artistic Director Afa Dworkin and Accordant Advisors CEO Shariq Yosufzai. DONATE TO MARIAN ANDERSON HISTORICAL SOCIETY Our neighborhood's beloved Marian Anderson Museum & Historical Society  has recently suffered from flooding in the basement of the Museum and is working to repair and cover the cost of the damage. This is estimated to be between $3,000-5,000 in costs. Today, we're helping Jillian of the Museum to fundraise the costs incurred over the COVID-19 period including the cost of the damage to the basement.
