Project Description: The zoning application proposes to demolish the existing building (2206 Market Street, restaurant and apartments) and redevelop the Property for the new construction of a 19 story professional and business office building with below grade accessory parking and part of the first floor with retail and/or eating/drinking establishment uses permitted as of right.
 
This meeting is being held in connection with the Civic Design Review process.

Experience Center City's charm and supporting Center City Residents' Association (CCRA) by attending our 61st House and Garden Tour.  This year, tour-goers the opportunity to step inside the private homes and gardens of some of the city's most stunning properties around Historic Rittenhouse Square.

The  tour will include a mix of condos and townhomes, a museum, and several elegant gardens including a rooftop garden above a busy shopping district and a beautiful fairytale-like secret garden tucked away on a quiet side-street just a block from Rittenhouse Square. 

Tickets are available now.  Tickets are $40 each.  For group sales or to purchase your tickets by phone, call Travis Oliver, Operations Manager at 215-546-6719.   As always plan your day to end with dinner at one of the participating restaurants offering 10-15% off the bill for all attendees.

Sad News: Walter Spencer has Passed Away

We are saddened to share the news that former CCRA board member, Walter Spencer passed away on Wednesday, March 4 at Penn Presbyterian Hospital after a long illness. A memorial celebration of his life is currently being planned. Details of the event will be announced shortly.

Your opinion is very important to us and will help guide us in prioritizing the issues and concerns of most importance to our center city community. All responses will be anonymous and confidential.

Wanted: Board Member Candidates

CCRA is looking to fill several Board seats for our fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020.  Board members generally serve a term of 3 years. The Board is a working Board.  We are seeking CCRA members who have a passion for living in "CCRAville;" are interested in issues of quality of life and community service; and are committed to active Board participation.  Successful candidates must serve on at least one committee and agree to fulfill the responsibilities set forth in our Board Pledge, which includes devoting at least four hours per month on CCRA activities, not including time spent attending, and preparing for, monthly Board meetings. See website for full Pledge and list of committees.

News from Di Bruno Bros.

CCRA has learned that in order to receive the discount at Di Bruno Bros., you must present YOUR CCRA MEMBERSHIP CARD.  Di Bruno Bros will no longer issue their own card.  If you misplaced your CCRA membership card, please email Travis Oliver, and he will reissue a new one.  

Please note, unless your membership level is Family, Patron, Angel, or Legend, one membership card will be issued to the member listed with CCRA.  If you would like to upgrade your membership, please contact Travis.

Community Events

JEVS Human Services hosts a prom for graduates of their GED program every year. These students dropped out of school, so they have never attended a prom. They have turned their lives around, earned high school equivalency diplomas, and are going on to college or careers. 

If you have any of the dressy items for women or men listed below, please donate them to JEVS Human Services at 1845 Walnut St.

Naudain Art Collaborative Art Salon will hold an exhibition on Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 15, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Ageless Gardens, 2503 Naudain Street. 

This exhibit features new member Mark Willie's watercolor landscapes, as well as Karen Villarreal's oils, pastels and watercolors and Bhavisha's oil paintings of elephants and flowers. 

 Free and open to the public.

97 Year Old Area Artist Shows Paintings and Etchings at the Twenty-Two Gallery 

Philip Cohn, studied at both PAFA and The Barnes Foundation in the late 1940's.  His life in Philadelphia, coupled with his international studies, have given him a worldly foundation for his subjects.  He is master at portraying the human condition.

Since 1948, Philip Cohn has had many solo and group exhibitions through the years.  His work has been exhibited in many local art establishments including the Woodmere Art Museum, The Hahn Gallery, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, Widener University Art Museum, Chestnut Hill Gallery and PAFA.  He is widely collected both publicly and privately.  Mr. Cohn will join Twenty-Two Gallery, 236 S. 22nd St., for an opening reception on Friday, March 13th, from 6 to 9 pm.  All works will be on display and for sale through April 5th, 2020.
