22nd St Bike Lane: Take the Survey!  We need your answers!

The City is proposing to move the 22nd St. bike lane (from South St. to Market St.) from the right/east side of 22nd to the left/west side.  (Parking now on the left/west side would be switched to the right/east side.) The City also proposes to install flex-posts (aka, bollards or 'flexible lane delineators') between the.  We apologize: we should have been neutral.  If you haven't taken the poll, please do so.  Click Here to take the survey (if you haven't already)

Bet on Us!  Casino Night in CCRAville
May 9,  Ethical Society,  Rittenhouse Square, 6-10pm

This year's Celebration of Center City Living event, CCRA's annual fundraiser, will have a new twist.  Not only will we have the usual schmoozing, adult beverages, heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts, silent auction, and live music, but we're also adding a new way to play in Center City - a Casino Night, with tuxedoed dealers and croupiers leading participants through roulette, black jack, craps, and poker, where the winnings are raffle tickets to be used as chances for donated prizes.  (No worries if you don't know how to play:  lessons will be provided.)  And on hand to receive this year's CCRA Community Service award will be Governor Edward G. Rendell.

We would like to thank our Sponsors:  Lead:  William Penn House; Platinum:  Southern Land - The Laurel and Starr Restaurants; Gold:  AT&T; Crumpet the Movie; Bronze:  City Fitness, Firstrust Bank, Pod Hotel, Robin Apartments; In-Kind:  Di Bruno Bros., Veda, Little Red Fish
Results of  AirBnB Survey

Last month, CCRA conducted a survey, asking members to weigh in about their experiences with locally owned or operated Airbnb properties. The survey was a result of one particular block's problems with an out of town Airbnb landlord. Local neighbors complained to CCRA; it brought the matter to the attention of L&I, which is now addressing the problem.  But we thought we'd better check with you, our members, to determine if there was a need for further vigilance on our part in monitoring local Airbnb properties.

The answer appears to be no. - no further CCRA action is called for at this time.   The member response to the survey was mixed as well as light light and we, therefore, concluded that no further community-wide action is currently required. We will handle any further Airbnb issues on a case by case basis, should any neighbors complain.

Thanks to all who participated in the survey.  Your responses enable us to focus our resources on local problems of the highest import.

Art Opening: MARK GARVIN "Jazz Resurgence: The 1980's"

Grand Opening of the new gallery space at Twenty-Two Gallery: "Gallery B" MARK GARVIN Jazz Resurgence: The 1980's April 5 thru April 30 Grand Opening & Artist's Reception: Friday, April 5, 6-9pm, 236 S. 22nd St.

"During the 1980's the art form of Jazz music saw a resurgence in it's various manifestations: recordings, writing and, especially, live performances. In Philadelphia and elsewhere venues as diverse as the Academy of Music, the Mann Center, the African American Museum, Penn's Landing, Chestnut Cabaret, Ripley's, and many smaller clubs hosted the musicians whose creativity gave rise to this renaissance. It's this context- the live performance- that inspired me to document some of the people who graced the stages of Philadelphia and beyond with their original sounds" Mark Garvin The photographs in this exhibit are archival black and white silver based (darkroom) prints personally, made from the original negatives. Mark Garvin, a native of Philadelphia, is a freelance photographer with an emphasis in the performing arts.
