Your contribution is needed to help install a lift in our neighborhood library so everyone can access the lower level!
Each
month, the Philadelphia City Institute (PCI), our neighborhood library
branch on Rittenhouse Square, hosts about 12 storytimes for
pre-schoolers, 34 programs for children and teens, and 14 events for
adults, all on the lower level. Programs include author talks,
book clubs, English conversation, movies, panel discussions, musical
programs, information sessions, poetry readings, writers' clubs, crafts,
and meetings. Unfortunately, our mobility-impaired neighbors are shut
out from programs held on the lower level, accessible only by stairs.
The lift will remedy this problem.
Friends
of PCI needs to raise $400,000 for the purpose of installing a lift.
The first milestone, $100,000, has been reached, thanks to all the
friends and neighbors who have contributed to this campaign. We still
need to collect $300,000.
The
library needs all neighbors to contribute large and small amounts to
get the lift installed. Please send a check to Free Library of
Philadelphia Foundation/PCI Lift, 1901 Vine Street, Suite 111, Philadelphia PA 19103.
