Celebration
Ready to Rock the School? CCRA's May 15 "School House Rock" Party, 6pm, AVA, 1920 Spruce St

Party time IS THIS Monday, 5/15, at 6:00 pm. at the Academy of Vocal Arts - a building so beautiful, it's certified on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places, and, yes, those really are Frank Furness' touches in the building.
 
Get your ticket  HERE to rock out at CCRA's "School House Rock" Celebration, featuring music by Stone Age, a local rock band who graduated from "the garage" band of its school days and now plays the classic rock of the 60's-80's, a bit of Motown, Soul, Blues and Country Rock.
 
Get schooled on the finest wines, with complimentary pourings from Moore Bros. Munch out on snacks and desserts from Di Bruno Bros (thanks, guys!) Dance, sing, and celebrate Greenfield Elementary School's principal, Dan LazarAnd raise some money for CCRA and the kids of Greenfield (a portion of the proceeds goes to the school).

Keynote dialogue with David Thornburg and Chris Satullo, from the Committee of Seventy, discussing civic life in this green country town.  Election of new directors.  To be followed by food and liquid refreshments.

Celebrate Gardens and Parks in May

National Public Gardens Day will be celebrated on Friday, May 12, followed by Love Your Park Week, from Saturday, May 13 to Sunday, May 21. The Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society have planned eight days of festivities, events, workshops, and activities all over the city. The Friends of Rittenhouse Square will participate with a park clean-up on Love Your Park Day, Saturday, May 13. Volunteers meet at 9:00 am in Rittenhouse Square to plant flowers, weed, rake leaves, and collect trash until noon. Contact love@friendsofrittenhouse.org or 267-586-5675 to volunteer in Rittenhouse Square. Groups are welcome!  http://www.loveyourpark.org
