CCRA President's Message on Rittenhouse Sq. Incident

Rittenhouse Square is one of the most successful public spaces on the planet.  People from every category, variation and combination of humanity congregate in peace and harmony.  The life of the Square is a monument to the people of this City and their indominable, ecumenical spirit.  It is the best of what we are.

There was a shooting in the Square on Monday night.  This crime is abhorrent to everything that makes the Square wonderful.  The life of the Square - a place open to all - shall continue.  We will do all we can to assure that. Our neighborhood is overwhelmingly safe.  The more we go out, the safer we are.  The more vibrant our streets, the stronger our community.  We shall not let an aberration deprive our neighborhood, our City or planet of what we have in Rittenhouse Square - or all of Center City.
