Philly Spring Clean Up April 9th; Broad & Washington

Friends & Neighbors,

THIS SATURDAY is the annual Philly Spring Clean Up! Our SOSNA Clean Block Reps are 
holding clean ups on 20 blocks throughout the neighborhood. Please lend a hand from 9am-12pm 
on any of the participating blocks, listed here. Then join us for snacks and brews at the volunteer 
after party and RECYCLING BIN GIVEAWAY at Carpenter Green from 12-2pm. What better 
way to start your Saturday than cleaning and greening your neighborhood?
Our friends at Chester Arthur Elementary will be hosting us for our April General Meeting on 
Wednesday, April 13th at 7PM. On the agenda we have updates from both the Friends of Chester 
Arthur and Stanton Community Partners, information from the Streets Department on the 
2016 Multifamily Recycling Initiative, and lastly an informational presentation on the project 
at the NW corner of Broad and Washington.

Events
Have a bike? Want to register it with the 17th Police District as part of the Bicycle Registration 
system? We will be hosting a Bike Registration Event with our friends at Point Breeze CDC on
Saturday, April 16th from 10 am to 12 pm to register your bike! Officers from the 17th Police
District will be on-hand, as will members of the SOSNA Safety Committee to help you through
the process.

Hit the bars and restaurants of South Street West on Saturday, April 16th for the annual Sprung!
Neighborhood Pub Crawl! For all of the info and updates check out the Sprung! Facebook event.

Please join Stanton Community Partner for a fundraiser at NextFab to support the school yard 
project at E.M. Stanton Elementary School! Tickets include beer, wine and refreshments, and an 
opportunity to bid on goodies from local businesses, artists and craftsman in a silent auction.

News
As of 3/23/16 bins are in at the SOSNA office, stop by during our office hours to pick one up! 
Bins are distributed on a first come, first served basis. You can always pick up a bin from one of 
the City's Sanitation Convenience Centers or use any container under 32 gallons, just mark it 
as 'recycling'. 

Events
The Southwest Center City Tree Planters will be planting trees on Saturday, April 23th at 9am 
and they’d love to have you join them! To volunteer meet the planters either at the parking lot at 
22nd and Bainbridge Streets (for the west side planting), or at the SOSNA Office, 19th and 
Christian (for the east side planting).

Mark your calendars for the 2016 Philly Spring Clean Up on April 9th! Our Clean Block Reps 
will be cleaning up their respective blocks and we'll be spring cleaning at Carpenter Green. 
The cleaning will be followed by a volunteer celebration and recycling bin giveaway at 
Carpenter Green from 12-2pm!  Check out all of the blocks participating!

News
The 2016 Multifamily Initiative is a comprehensive six-month recycling initiative, focused on 
targeting multifamily properties (buildings with 2-6 units) and areas of the city with low recycling 
diversion rates. Representatives from the Streets Department and the Recyclebank will be joining 
SOSNA at our April General Meeting to discuss the initiative.
