The SOSNA Summer Social is here! Join us TOMORROW at Julian Abele Park from 3-8pm for a fun-filled day for the whole family!
Food:
Cool off with iced coffee and sparkling lemonade from Ultimo or a popsicle from the Igloo, grab a snack from the Poi Dog food truck, and check out Los Camaradas- they're running their Happy Hour food & drink menu for attendees of the event. And of course, you can bring your own picnic!
Activities:
At 3pm the Christian Street YMCA will kick-off the day with activities and kids' games. At 4pm enjoy a free, hour-long yoga class with experts from Raja Yoga. Be sure to bring water, your yoga mat, a hat and some sun screen. The Ready to Hand Weaving Studio will be in attendance all day with a loom creating a community weaving! Then, we'll have a DJ spinning some tunes from 5:30- 7pm!
Stick around until 7pm for the announcement of the 2015 Streetscape Competition winners and the SOSNA Higher Education Scholarship winner and help us recognize some special members of our community. At the end of the night SOSNA will raffle off a 20" mountain bike and helmet! You can enter the raffle throughout the day, but must be present to win the bike! Fireside Camp Supply is also giving away a weekend camping rental for two! To win, you can either sign up at their table tomorrow, or, follow them on instagram @FiresideCampSupply and post a picture at the SOSNA Summer Social with the hashtag #JulianAbelePark. Fireside will pick the winner at the end of the evening!

Neighbors please note: the 2100 block of Carpenter Street will be CLOSED for the event and there will be no parking on the portion Carpenter Street adjacent to the park. Please move your car by 8:00am Saturday morning.

Join us for a family-friendly neighborhood picnic in Julian Abele Park on July 18th, from 3-8pm! Local businesses will be on hand with food, drinks, fun activities and more! SOSNA will also be raffling off a free kids' bike! Thanks to the Friends of Julian Abele Park as well as Los Camaradas, Ultimo, the Igloo, Ready to Hand, Raja Yoga, the YMCA, and Fireside Camp Supply!

From the organizers of Philadelphia Dance Day: The sixth annual Philadelphia Dance Day is coming up on July 25 with more than 20 free workshops and a $5 evening party that includes more lessons, performances and open social dancing. We had more than 500 people dancing with us last year, and hope for even more this year! Volunteers from about a dozen local organizations are collaborating to make this event possible.

National Night Out at Julian Abele Park (22nd & Carpenter/Montrose) from 6:00-8:00pm on the 4th.

There has been a rise in car break-ins throughout the neighborhood. The 17
th Police District has been able to make two arrests, including one suspect that was identified using security camera footage. The Police encourage neighbors to sign-up for the
SAFECAM program to register your security camera.

Join us for our 18th & Christian Farmer's Market re-opening for the season! This market will feature Buzby Farms, a great local farmer from New Jersey. They will have a variety of fruits and vegetables, and will accept cash, FMNP vouchers, ACCESS/EBT cards, and Philly Food Bucks. This market is open every Thursday from 3pm- 7pm at the Christian Street YMCA.

The farmer's market at Julian Abele Park is returning May 26th! The market will be every Tuesday from 2-7 PM. The wonderful provider will again be
Highland Orchards, out of Delaware (they also go to Fitler Square on Saturdays and Schuylkill River Park on Wednesdays). They have fruits, veggies, preserves, honey, meat, cheese, eggs, and more! Stop by for your mid-week shopping!
