Win at the SOSNA Summer Social! Friends & Neighbors,  We've got a lot of fun activities planned for the SOSNA Summer Social coming up on July 18th in Julian Abele Park! We'll have face painting, actives with the YMCA, a free Yoga Class with Raja Yoga, weaving with the Ready to Hand weaving studio, a DJ, and raffles galore! SOSNA be raffling off a 20" bicycle, and Fireside Camp Supply will be raffling off a weekend camping rental for two! All you have to do is sign up and be present to win! (For the full activities schedule, click here.) We'll be joined by the Igloo, Los Camaradas, Ultimo and Poi Dog Philly, just to name a few. Bring your own picnic or grab some snacks while you're there!  We're also taking this opportunity to recognize some outstanding members of our community. We'll be announcing the winners of the 2015 Streetscape Competition and the winner of the SOSNA Higher Education Scholarship! Please join us on July 18th at Julian Abele to have some fun, grab a bite, meet your neighbors and congratulate our winners! We're looking for a few volunteers to help out during the event, too. Events SOSNA Summer Social & General Meeting Join us for a family-friendly neighborhood picnic in Julian Abele Park on July 18th, from 3-8pm! Local businesses will be on hand with food, drinks, fun activities and more! SOSNA will also be raffling off a free kids' bike! Events Zoning Committee Meeting The next SOSNA Zoning Committee meeting will take place at the SOSNA office, 1901 Christian Street, at 7PM on July 15, 2015. The SOSNA Zoning Committee always meets the third Wednesday of every month starting at 7 PM.     JULY 2015 SOSNA ZONING AGENDA : 1. 1911-21 Kimball Street: Application for six (6), 3-story structures each with roof deck, to be accessed by exterior spiral stair at 2nd floor. This market will feature Buzby Farms, a great local farmer from New Jersey. They will have a variety of fruits and vegetables, and will accept cash, FMNP vouchers, ACCESS/EBT cards, and Philly Food Bucks. This market is open every Thursday from 3pm- 7pm at the Christian Street YMCA. Events Save the Date - Light Up the Night - National Night Out Event - Tuesday, August 4th The SOSNA Safety Committee is thrilled to announce the fifth annual Light Up the Night event on Tuesday, August 4th. This year we are celebrating National Night Out at Julian Abele Park (22nd & Carpenter/Montrose) from 6:00-8:00pm on the 4th. Events Julian Abele Park Farmer's Market The farmer's market at Julian Abele Park is returning May 26th! The market will be every Tuesday from 2-7 PM. The wonderful provider will again be Highland Orchards, out of Delaware (they also go to Fitler Square on Saturdays and Schuylkill River Park on Wednesdays). They have fruits, veggies, preserves, honey, meat, cheese, eggs, and more! Stop by for your mid-week shopping!
