Announcing the SOSNA Streetscape Competition! Friends & Neighbors,  SOSNA is happy to announce we're now accepting entries for the 2015 Streetscape Competition! If you add color and beauty to our neighborhood by greening the front of your home, we'd like to recognize you for your efforts! Prizes are awarded in three categories: container gardens, window boxes and tree pit gardens. Click here for more information on how to enter and to see all of our previous winners! Join us next week, on Thursday, June 4th, for the Triangles Summer Music Series at the Grays Ferry Triangles Plaza! Grab some dinner from the Farm Truck and enjoy the sounds of AlyCat! The party goes from 6-8pm! SOSNA welcomes volunteers to help with the planning of our many community events. If you can lend a hand join us at the Community Impact Committee meeting on Thursday, June 4th at the SOSNA office from 6:30-7:30pm.  Lastly, the Friends of Julian Abele Park will not be meeting Tuesday, June 2nd. The meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 9th at 7pm at Julian Abele Park.  News Now Accepting Entries for the 2015 SOSNA Streetscape Competition SOSNA is now accepting entries for the 2015 Streetscape Contest! The SOSNA Streetscape Contest recognizes neighbors who beautify our community by planting and tending greenery on the front of their homes or businesses. There is no entry fee and prizes are awarded in multiple categories: Container gardens Window boxes Tree pit gardens Enter today! Entries are due by JULY 1, 2015 at 7 PM! For more info and to see previous winners, click here!   Events Opera Philadelphia Presents: Spiritual Sketches Opera Philadelphia Presents: Spiritual Sketches with Lawrence Brownlee and Damien Sneed at Union Baptist Church! The star of Charlie Parker's YARDBIRD, Lawrence Brownlee, collaborates with renowned gospel, jazz, and classical musician Damien Sneed for an exciting recital of original spiritual arrangements. Joining them for two selections is one of Lawrence's costars from Charlie Parker’s YARDBIRD, soprano Angela Brown. Meet Lawrence and Damien after the recital at an informal reception, where copies of their acclaimed CD, Spiritual Sketches, will be available for sale and signing. The program will be held at Union Baptist Church, a National Historic Landmark where trailblazing Philadelphia contralto Marian Anderson sang as a child.   Events Triangles Summer Music Series Every Thursday night this summer come enjoy live music, good food and meet your fellow neighbors at the Triangles Summer Music Series at 23rd and Grays Ferry Ave/South Street starting at 6pm. Thursday, June 4th and we'll have music by AlyCat and food by the Farm Truck! News Join Philly FoodWorks CSA and Support SOSNA Our friends at Philly Foodworks have a great offer - sign up for their CSA and if you input "SOSNA" (all caps) as the coupon code, they will donate $10 back to SOSNA to support our great projects like Carpenter Green!!   Events Julian Abele Park Farmer's Market The farmer's market at Julian Abele Park is returning May 26th! The market will be every Tuesday from 2-7 PM. The wonderful provider will again be Highland Orchards, out of Delaware (they also go to Fitler Square on Saturdays and Schuylkill River Park on Wednesdays). They have fruits, veggies, preserves, honey, meat, cheese, eggs, and more! Stop by for your mid-week shopping! Events Friends of Julian Abele Park Meeting Friends of Julian Abele Park meeting. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at the SOSNA office at 7pm.    Join us to get involved with the park. Everyone welcome!    *Please note- the June meeting has been rescheduled from 6/2 to 6/9. On 6/9 the Friends will meet in Julian Abele Park at 7pm, instead of at the SOSNA office.
