Friends & Neighbors,
The Philly Spring Clean Up is this Saturday, April 11th- join SOSNA for some spring cleaning at Carpenter Green! We'll meet at 17th & Carpenter at 10am and clean up the soon-to-be park, then we'll head over to help our friends at Chester A. Arthur Elementary School with schoolyard cleaning and planting. Stick around until 1:00pm for the Volunteer After Party and Kick Off of Phase 1 of Carpenter Green! We'll have snacks and beverages at Carpenter Green for our hungry volunteers and those who want to stop by and check out the site. Councilman Johnson will be joining the fun at 1:00pm to celebrate this amazing project with SOSNA and the community. Let us know your coming and click here to register for the Clean Up & Kickoff Party.
The scoop on Carpenter Green: Through a partnership with the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority, The Philadelphia Water Department and Councilman Kenyatta Johnson we'll be starting construction on Phase 1 of Carpenter Green this spring! What is involved with phase 1, you ask? We'll be completing all of the excavation, site prep, utility placement and grading. After Phase 1 we'll be left with a beautiful green field. We'll need to do some more fundraising to complete phase 2, which will include landscaping and adding all of the features that'll make the park a beautiful place to hang out! We're so excited to begin transforming the space and we have all of our amazing volunteers to thank for it! Stay tuned for more on Carpenter Green this spring.
