Friends & Neighbors,
![]()
Mark you calendars! The 2nd District Candidate forum is coming up on Wednesday, April 22nd! Join us for an evening of conversation with Second Councilmanic District Candidates Kenyatta Johnson and Ori Feibush. The evening will be moderated by WNYC reporter, author of the "Christie Chronicles" and neighborhood resident Matt Katz. We also want to hear from you, our residents! What questions do you want to ask the 2nd District candidates? Send us your questions and choose the topics you think are most important to our neighborhood: Send us your questions here! The event will be held in the Chester A. Arthur auditorium (20th and Catharine). Doors open at 6:30pm and the program begins promptly at 7pm.
Do you want to leave your mark on the Grays Ferry Triangles Plaza? Join us on Sunday, April 19th to Paint the Plaza! To celebrate the one-year anniversary of this urban refuge we'll be painting a mural (above) onto the asphalt to further beautify this great community space! No experience or tools necessary, just be sure to sign up! The paint day is very weather dependent, so please sign up for as many days as you can. You will be contacted by email beforehand if the paint day is on or off.
There are numerous events coming up this week (and weekend) in the neighborhood! Check them out below:
April 16th: Spring Into The Arts Fundraiser for E.M. Stanton Elemenatry: Please join Stanton Community Partners for a happy hour fundraiser at Art Sanctuary (16th and Bainbridge) to support Young Playwrights and other enrichment programs at E.M. Stanton! You will have the opportunity to admire and win items (via raffle and silent auction) donated by local artists, craftspeople and businesses, as well as participate in a 50/50 raffle. Refreshments will be provided. Get your tickets, here.
April 16th: Safety Meeting & Townwatch Group Patrol: Join the SOSNA Safety Committee for a South of South Town Watch Group Patrol within the neighborhood on Thursday, April 16th at 7:30pm. This is a good opportunity to check out Town Watch and see what it is all about. Plus, it's a great way to meet neighbors, while making the neighborhood a safer place to live. We'll meet at the SOSNA Office (1901 Christian Street) and plan to end the patrol at 22nd and Christian Street (outside Sidecar). Feel free to bring your dog!
April 18th: Bike Registration: Come to Catharine Park (22nd Street & Catharine Street) on Saturday, April 18th from 10 am to 12 pm to list your bike with the 17th Police District Bicycle Registry! Officers from the 17th Police District will be on-hand, as will members of the SOSNA Safety Committee to help you through the process.
April 18th: Sprung!: After you register your bike, head over to South Street West for a springtime pub crawl from 1-7pm! A ticket gets you food and drink specials at stops like The Cambridge, Bob & Barbara’s Lounge, Doobies, and Grace Tavern. It also gets you discounts at participating businesses! Grab your tickets here or while visiting your first bar on Saturday.
