RALLY FOR EDUCATION FUNDING, TUES., 8/5, 11AM, GREENFIELD SCHOOL, 22ND & CHESTNUT
There will be a rally tomorrow morning at the Greenfield School to urge state lawmakers to come back to Harrisburg and approve the cigarette tax to fund Philadelphia public schools.
CONTACT CORBETT TO ADVISE WHETHER HE SHOULD CALL THE LEGISLATURE BACK IN SESSION
Tom Corbett says he's "disappointed" that lawmakers cancelled their special session this week, where they were supposed to pass the cigarette tax legislation for Philly schools.

But the Governor has the Constitutional power to make them return to Harrisburg when it is required by public interest.  Article II, Section 4 of the Pennsylvania Constitution says:

"Special sessions shall be called by the Governor on petition of a majority of the members elected to each House or may be called by the Governor whenever in his opinion the public interest requires."

If you would like to give the Governor your thoughts on whether he should call a special session this week and make lawmakers come back, click here or copy and paste the message below to this link:

To:
Gov. Thomas Corbett, Pennsylvania

Please use your power under Article II, Section 4 of the Pennsylvania Constitution to call a special session this week to pass the local cigarette tax so that Philadelphia public schools can safely open on time.
Sincerely,

[Your name]
