Dear Residents,
I’d like to extend my appreciation for your attendance at
the June 3rd Follow-up Community Meeting on the Naudain Street
Explosion. Like you, I am committed to understanding all the details of the
disaster so that we can prevent similar incidents in the future. By bringing various
officials into an open forum, I aimed to make the process transparent and
collaborative. Your presence allowed us to show the panelists that this issue
is a top priority and your insightful questions helped fuel a meaningful
discussion. In return, I hope that you found the announcements and responses to
be informative.
Like many of you, I am disappointed that the investigation
gives no definitive answer as to the cause of the explosion. It is unsettling
to think that the scientific tools at our disposal might not be precise enough
to predict and prevent another catastrophe. In the interest of everyone’s
safety, I will continue to demand a thorough public report with the results of
the investigation.
It is my goal to keep an open channel of communication between you and the city so that your needs are met. I will continue to provide you with any updates when they arise and I will keep this issue a top concern. In the meantime, I encourage you to reach out to my office to voice questions or concerns regarding this or any other matter. The best way to contact us is by calling or emailing my Chief of Staff, Chris Sample, at 215-686-3412 or christopher.sample@phila.gov or visiting City Hall Room 580.
I look forward to continuing to work with you.
Sincerely,
Councilman
Kenyatta Johnson
